A moment of encouragement
Here's what my sister Janis said when I told her I had cancer: "Whatever's on your plate, I know you can handle it. You can do this, Joni. This you can do."
I'm telling you the same thing now. You can do this. This you can do. Look around at the people who need you, then gather your courage, and roll up your sleeve. Chemo is a refining fire, but even in the worst of times, you are able to love, and that makes you fully alive, a gift to the world, an instrument of peace. Each day that you go forward, you move toward healing. And though healing isn't always what we think it should be, it is there for anyone willing to embrace it. This will be over eventually, and when it is, whether you live or die, you will be whole. You will know peace. And life will go on. Truly I promise you, grace is real, God is here, and in the end, everything is going to be all right.
"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not recognize it? I am making a path through the desert and streams in the dry land." ISAIAH 43:18--19
